Manipulation: Russia is not the aggressor

·1 min

One misconception that arose in early 2022 in social debate is as follows:

Russia is not the aggressor. It’s just defending itself against <blank>, where <blank> can be:

  • NATO expansion
  • Russophobes
  • Russian population oppression
  • And many others

Without resorting to kindergarten debate of “who started it all”, let’s go straight to definitions. What is aggression? Turns out that UN defined what aggression is in its Resolution 3314. As always, I invite everyone to consult the Resolution 3314 and the corresponding definition in its entirety.

The exercise boils down to reading the Article 2 and 3 and ticking the corresponding boxes for the state actors: Russian Federation and Ukraine.
